Dunster is about to get its traditional pavement back. The news will come as a great relief to residents who have been rightly fighting Somerset County Council ever since they ripped up the old cobbles and replaced them with ghastly flat modern paving stones last year. The outcry was audible throughout the county, so now – at a cost of £55,000 – the workmen are preparing to return and dig up the horrid modern slabs and replace them with something that looks the part. Great news, but why has it taken to long and so much angst to get action?
