It took several years, working hard with others, to win enough support for new Community Hospitals in Bridgwater and Minehead. Both are now completed and open. Bridgwater’s brand new building was formally unveiled at a Royal visit in June 2014.
I am delighted to see these fine facilities up and running. There had been some recent problems at Minehead when the management announced night time closure of the Minor Injuries Unit. A spirited local campaign demonstrated the extent of local feeling and I was able to underline the message in meetings with top NHS personnel. Happily a way has now been found to re-open the Minor Injuries Unit. I continue to take a great interest in both hospitals and the way they deliver vital services.
