Readers may be aware that I am very concerned indeed about the manner in which the former Chief Constable, Nick Gargan, was investigated and punished by the Police and Crime Commissioner Mrs Mountstevens. It struck me as a witch hunt and a stitch up. I am not alone. Several Parliamentary colleagues believe the whole matter was appallingly mishandled. Last night there was a debate at Westminster which highlighted the issues. I was involved. Ministers are taking it very seriously and have agreed to meet with me and other colleagues and talk direct to Mr Gargan. At last the campaign is beginning to show results.
