We woke up this morning to a suddenly altered political world. The referendum results (close as the two sides were) showed a majority in favour of leaving the EU. I believe we must respect that viewpoint and work towards a sensible arrangement with europe for the future. They will still want to sell us their goods and buy ours. They are still big partners with us in vital schemes for the area, like Hinkley C. But I do not believe the French will suddenly pull the plug. Nor do I believe that the EU will attempt to punish us for the decision of the people. These are uncharted waters, of course, but we must all work together to achieve the best deals for Bridgwater, for Somerset and for all the British people – however they voted. My Referendum pages have already been updated and I will keep on doing so as the changes become clear.
