COUNCIL HELPLINE

6 April, 2020 by Ian

The Somerset Coronavirus Support Helpline – 0300 790 6275 – is live and makes it easier to access all local authority assistance, including emotional support, during the Coronavirus crisis.

The Helpline links the district and county council contact centres and runs seven days a week, 8am to 6pm.

It cannot offer medical advice, for which people should still use NHS online services.

Anyone can use the number for advice about:

  • Personal care and support including food and delivery of prescriptions
  • Support for the homeless
  • Emotional support if worried or anxious
  • Transport to medical appointments
  • Waste collection and disposal
  • Financial support

The 0300 790 6275 number is staffed by five councils in Somerset and will be available seven days a week 8am – 6pm.

Volunteers are still needed. Please register on:  https://www.corona-helpers.co.uk/
