How green is your MP?

14 October, 2019 by Ian

The answer to this question can be found (so I am told) in the pages of the Guardian newspaper. The Guardian studied the voting records of all Members of Parliament and then worked out how”green”each one of them really is. I am not certain about the validity of the newspaper’s statistical methodology.

Nor can I commend the accuracy of the study. But the outcome they have reported appears to put me top of all Somerset’s MPs. Apparently, I am 36% green! Perhaps the score is a demonstration of my genuine reaction to Parliamentary votes on environmental issues. I always try to support causes which will benefit the constituency as a whole but I often oppose badly drafted motions or ill-considered issues. Some of my colleagues, however, have hit rock bottom and scored nothing at all in this Guardian survey. Oh dear.
