Great news for Bridgwater today. The town will benefit by up to £25million as part of the Government’s Town Fund initiative which was announced by the Chancellor this week. In total there is £3.6billion now intended for 100 hand picked towns nationwide.
Bridgwater must find imaginative new ways to improve transport, get digital services working better, promote local skills and give a boost to local culture.
We can – and will – do a great deal with this kind of investment.
The team at Sedgemoor District Council is already looking enthusiastically at particular initiatives.
But that is not the whole story because the Government’s new spending plans already include substantial grants to the South West Enterprise Partnership operating in the area.
