BRIDGWATER WINS TOWN FUNDS!

6 June, 2021 by Ian

Bridgwater is in for a huge injection of cash thanks to the Government Town Fund, established to give a real boost for special projects.

Bridgwater consulted widely and put together an imaginative bid for £25million.

They will receive almost all this sum, which is a tribute to the skill of the bidding team - led by Sedgemoor District Council.

The ambitious Tidal Barrier will now get the formal go ahead and there is money to improve Junction 23 on the M5, restore the historic docks, provide extra space for Carnival production and finance a host of other important schemes.

It is a shot in the arm and another recognition by Whitehall that Bridgwater is going places.
