There is a serious cash crisis in Somerset schools.
Don't take my word for it, teachers parents and governors have flooded me with details. I took this matter up with the Education Secretary, Charles Clarke, in the Aurtumn of 2003. He agreed with me that money allocated by Government appeared to have gone astray. I raised the matter directly with the Prime Minister at Question Time and Mr Blair "totally agreed" with me that it was lilkely the County Council had, in some way, failed to use resources deliberately sent their way by central government. This is not a matter of party political point-scoring. The education of our children is far too important. I have been seeking (unsuccesfully) detailed figures from the County Council about where schools cash goes. I am still awaiting proper answers. This is a fight I don't intend to give up on. Any information you can pass my way that will help throw light on where the money has gone will be gratefully recieved.
