Somerset has a thriving band of girls and boys in uniform. The Scout and Guide movement is very much alive and well in this area. And, given our coastline, the sea scouts and beavers also get a decent look in. These organisations perform a great role and keep young people fruitfully occupied. They are run by dedicated individuals who give generously of their time and effort. I am now playing a minor part. I was asked to become a sort of roving ambassador for the guides and brownies. Thankfully (for everyone) I am not required to wear shorts. But I am delighted to advertise the huge contribution these organisations make to the life of our community. Keep up the good work.
PS: Once upon a time I was a boy scout (a little less impressive than Baden Powell the father of the movement)
Somewhere, buried in a sock drawer, is my old woggle.
I still cherish it.
