If anyone needed proof that the UK economy is still ticking over nicely they should have been at a Westminster event to celebrate the huge strides being made in the South West towards a new brighter nuclear future. Nuclear South West is a body formed with full cooperation between two large Local Enterprise Partnerships to foster the challenges and opportunities of brand new power stations – particularly ours at Hinkley. Elsewhere in the Palace of Westminster Theresa May was making ready to take over as Prime Minister. But I was presiding at this event and delighted to see so many important players in the nuclear industry still talking positively despite the Brexit vote. It confirms the message I have been trying to impart for months past – keep calm…..it will be alright!
