It is something of a major achievement to persuade 600 busy farmers from all over Somerset to come to Bridgwater on a sultry July evening – but that is exactly what happened last night at the Sedgemoor Livestock market. I was there too – to watch what happened, assess the mood and show solidarity with many hard-working farmers from the constituency. Without doubt many are still angry about milk prices and much else besides. The NFU did not escape criticism and those effective organisers. Farmers for Action, showed what strength of numbers really means. Clearly the agricultural economy needs a lot more attention from the top that it is currently getting.
