Dementia affects tens of thousands of people. There can be few of us who do not know a victim. Much has been – and continues to be – done, to research treatments and discover possible long-term cures. Awareness week is an annual event that is arranged to help advance wider understanding of the condition. A great deal of help is available through organisations like the Alzheimer’s Society. I have heartily backed their efforts and continue to do. Take a look at the Alzheimer’s Society website. Better still come along and meet members of the Society’s dedicated local team. They will available next Friday morning (May 22nd) at Minehead Library in Bancks Street, Minehead, TA24 5DJ
