The internet is now an essential part of everyday life for many of my constituents. Unfortunately high-speed broadband is only available to those who live in larger towns. For the rural communities, particularly in parts of West Somerset, it is sometimes quicker to send a snail-mail letter than wait for the dangling piece of copper wire on a telegraph pole to successfully deliver your message. But this is the 21st century and we have been promised action to improve connections. I am determined to fight the corner of those who are still stuck with slow speeds. I have already held talks with BT and held Ministerial talks. I have jointly established a cross-party group in Parliament to act as a pressure group for change. I have spoken in Parliamentary debates and will continue to do so.
